These terms are between you and the Australian business operator trading as Chapter & Kin (ABN 62 144 654 542), referred to as “we”, “us” or “our”. Read them and the privacy policy before contributing content. Contact support@chapterandkin.com.au if you need help.

Your account and family

You must be an adult able to agree to these terms and have authority to create or contribute to a child's book. Use accurate account information, keep sign-in details private and tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. Do not use another person's account without permission.

Book owners manage emailed invitations and memberships. Each owner can appoint one co-parent account across books they own, and share additional books with that same co-parent. Co-parents can help manage family content, care and growth records; viewers have no access to structured care, growth or birth health records. Invitees must use the verified email account that received the invitation and accept the current terms before accessing private family information. Legacy anonymous guest links no longer grant access. Only share with people who should have access. All invited members must respect the family's privacy. Do not copy or redistribute someone else's family content without permission. Removing access cannot recall screenshots or copies already saved.

Your content stays yours

You retain your rights in the content you provide. You give Chapter & Kin permission to store, process, display, resize and transmit it only as needed to operate the service, follow your sharing choices, make backups and handle safety or legal obligations. This is not a transfer of ownership or permission to sell your family photos.

Upload only content you own or have permission and appropriate parental authority to use. Manually entered family-tree names, notes and connections are content shared with invited members of that book. Only add details you have authority to share; avoid private contact or health details in tree notes. Removing a tree card removes its connections, while saved photos, stories and app accounts remain. Do not assume that being a family member gives permission to post any photograph or health record. Resolve consent concerns before sharing, and contact support if a dispute arises.

Acceptable use

Do not upload, post or share illegal material, child sexual abuse or exploitation material, sexualised images of children, sexually explicit content, threats, harassment, hate, scams, other people's private information without authority, or content that infringes rights. Do not impersonate others, evade access controls or storage limits, scrape private books, or attack the service. Do not use comments to abuse or threaten anyone.

Use the photo editor's cover or crop tools before sharing a photo that needs additional privacy. The editor does not automatically detect private body areas, and an edited copy must be checked before saving. A private book is not an exemption from these rules.

Reporting and action

Use the in-app report option where available, or follow Safety & support to report content, a user or unauthorised sharing. We may investigate, restrict access, remove content or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to address abuse, legal obligations or a security risk. An owner can also remove a family member or revoke a pending invitation in Sharing & access. Report a disputed removal to support.

Care logs, reminders and availability

Care and growth entries are records you provide, not a diagnosis, medical advice or a substitute for professional care. Check entries before acting on them. Notifications and sleep sounds depend on internet, browser, device permissions and operating-system settings; alerts may be delayed or absent. Never rely on this app for an emergency, a critical medication alarm or another safety-critical task.

We aim to keep the service useful and secure, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, exact notification delivery or recovery of every file. Keep original photos and videos and a separate book backup. The app may store a resized photo rather than the original full-resolution file. Temporary outages and device changes may affect access; contact support before deleting an installation to troubleshoot.

Storage, charges and leaving

Storage limits shown in the app apply across the owner's family and contributor uploads. Recently Deleted items still use space. The current test service does not start a paid subscription automatically. Any future paid offer must show its price and conditions before you agree; accepting these terms does not authorise a charge.

You can stop using the app and request account and associated data deletion. Export anything you want to keep first. We will verify requests and handle shared-book ownership before deletion.

Family allowances

Free includes 10 lifetime photo uploads across the owner’s books, up to 250 MB total, two family viewers and one book. Deleted photos still count. Free does not include new videos, in-app photo editing or designed PDF generation; captions and stories remain editable. Pending viewer invitations count towards the same viewer allowance. One co-parent is separate from the viewer allowance. Existing content above a limit remains readable, downloadable and deletable. Family (planned A$6.99/month) includes 10 GB, five viewers and five books; Plus (planned A$12.99/month) includes 50 GB, twenty viewers and twenty books. Both include photo editing and eligible MP4 videos up to 500 MB and five minutes each, with designed book generation limited to once per family in 24 hours. Storage is a total allowance, not an amount renewed each month. Explicit quota-exempt accounts retain their separate arrangement. Payments remain disabled; no subscription is started by these rules.

Your legal rights and updates

Nothing here excludes consumer guarantees or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law where applicable. These terms do not ask you to waive rights over your personal information. We may update the service and these terms; material changes will be explained in the app where appropriate. If new terms are not acceptable, you can contact support and request deletion.
